Transitioning to a Circular Economy: Opportunities in North America
The transition to a circular economy presents both unique challenges and tremendous business opportunities in the US and Canada. In this paper “Transitioning to a Circular Economy: Opportunities for Recovery, Resiliency and Regeneration”, Enel North America describes our viewpoint of challenges and opportunities for the circular transition through analysis, examples and partner case studies.
The application of circular economy principles are evident across the full value chain of our operations and Enel’s long-term strategy and we are just getting started. As a leader in the energy sector, and an enabler of greater energy circularity among our cross-sector partners, together we will continuously drive towards the achievement of greater circular outcomes throughout our projects and products, extending our commitment to creating shared value in the communities where we work and live; applying regenerative land-use models for solar and enabling our customers and partners to achieve their sustainability goals.
The embrace of an inclusive circular economy is vital as we aim to ensure a just energy transition, one that encompasses environmental sustainability, decent work and economic growth, social inclusion and poverty eradication. Through Enel’s Open Power Vision, we can come closer to achieving a just transition that is accessible to all.
In this paper, we have summarized the challenges and opportunities of the circular economy transition for North America and describe how we are addressing these, with examples from projects across our business lines as well as those of our ecosystem of partners.
